Well, Sunday's run/walk, while fun and pretty was apparently not the BEST idea I have ever had in terms of the fit test for insanity. Apparently my legs were PRETTY tired to say the least. However, I enjoyed the 5-4-3-2-1 run/walk that I completed and will definitely be doing it again!
Below are the results of the first and second fit tests. Latest results are bolded.
Exercise
Switch kick: 69 64
Power squat: 42 32
Power knee (right): 60 85
Power jump: 20 20
Globe jump: 7 9
Suicide jump: 7 8
Pushup Jack: 8 13
Plank: 33 40
I never really got into a rhythm for the power squat which I think shows in the number. Biggest disappointment are the first two exercises. I feel like I should have at least stayed the same. I am most proud of the Pushup Jack number increasing. I have been doing them from my knees but you can't for this exercise. The increase of 5 seems huge to me!

Left Thigh: 23.5 inch

Insanity Panic Attack
I admit I am WAYYYY out of shape. But also super competitive. Which tends to lead to injuries if you don't reign it in. I've been pretty terrified of things like P90X, Crossfit and Insanity for this very reason. I'm terrified I'll end up one of the many horror stories you can google.
So when I woke up yesterday barely able to stand up because of the pain in my calves, I was pretty freaked out. I barely made it to my morning tinkle. It was then, after only 2 days of Insanity, that I decided I needed to take my rest day.
But, in the past when I would have literally vegged out, this time I decided I would lace up my fun shoes and go for a 40 minute walk around the neighborhood to loosen up the muscles. I'll admit, it hurt but I enjoyed being outside listening to music walking through the hood.
And I was proud of myself for listening to my body but blocking out the lazy ass.
So today, I woke up with a house guest. Not exactly the optimal situation in which to get a workout in like Insanity. I headed to my office, down the hall, a bit early and got some work in.
Just now I finished off Day 3 of Insanity... a day late but not a dollar short. It was tough and the calves were pissy but about 15 minutes in I finally felt ok enough. I had to modify the exercises a bit but I am drenched in sweat right now, guzzling water. Workout complete.
I gotta tell you... it feels good. Damn good.

insanity day 1: the fit test
Also known as I hate that skinny, smiling Asian bitch day.
What the fuck is she feeling so damn perky about?
So the boyfriend has all kinds of workout shut he never does including insanity. I decided to give it a shot. Day 1 is a fit test that makes you feel ridiculously inept and out of shape. Both of which I already felt so the video was never needed to get there.
Anyway the starting point: 192 lbs
Switch kick:69
Power squat: 42
Power knee (right): 60
Power jump: 20
Globe jump: 7
Suicide jump: 7
Pushup Jack: 8
Plank: 33
Also what the fuck is up with only doing the power knee on one said?

Welp I instantly regretted that Cheat Day
But not enough to stop me from making BLT pasta salad!
I woke up this morning and weighed in at 190.8. I think if I had skipped the cheat day, I'd be below that weight but oh well. I immediately went to the gym and did 10 minutes on the stair master and 20 minutes on the elliptical. Then I did an arms work out for 30 minutes. Bicep curls, push ups, tricep dips, shoulder raises and chest presses.
After a tough day at work I decided I wanted to try the BLT Pasta Salad my friend Heidi posted to her facebook a few weeks ago. It was awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone who has an event to bring a side dish to. It was so good.
Ingredient wise it contains everything a BLT does: lettuce, tomato, bacon and mayo but with pasta instead of bread. Plus the person who made the recipe Heidi posted changed some of the mayo out for Greek yogurt. Check out the picture below!
You can find the full recipe here.

God Bless the Cheat Day
Yesterday definitely did not start out as the cheat day. In fact, Friday night we went out for a friend's birthday who had planned a brewery tour and whirly ball but failed to factor in food and we ended up stopping for fast food so I had every intention of behaving yesterday. Nonetheless, it turned into a cheat day and it was a fabulous day so I'm hardpressed to feel bad about it.
I woke up and went exploring Acworth with a 45 minute walk. It was a gorgeous morning and my only regret is weighing enough that I'm not comfortable in shorts and a tank top to have enjoyed the weather. I discovered about a mile from our house a lovely walking trail through the woods; however, I'm not itching to try it alone any time soon.
Breakfast
Bryan slept in and I prepared a feast for our friends and ourselves to enjoy. Regret #2 : not taking a picture of my hard work. We even ate like adults at the dining room table- only the 3rd time in our relationship we have done it! Our morning feast consisted of:

- Banana Pancakes sans pancake mix (literally just eggs and bananas- they taste like crepes and are packed with protein. Plus you don't feel sick after eating them. For every 2 people I did 2 eggs and a banana).
- Strawberries (plain or with whipped cream or nutella- eaters choice).
- Turkey Sausage
- Homefries
- Orange Juice or Coffee
It was delicious and kind of fun to cook for friends! The clean up part sucks but oh well. So, as you can see the day started out ok!
We loaded up Corey's truck and headed down to Acworth Beach (so named because it is the shoreline of Lake Acworth). There were TONS of kids there but we set up chairs and towels and laid out in the sun. How we have missed sun here in Georgia! It has been a truly wet summer.
Lunch
Sam Adams Oktoberfest Beer. Yeah it was a liquid lunch. I only had two.
After the beach, Bryan and I came home and hosed off (quickly, I might add. Also separately for those of you getting ideas). Then we headed to Kennesaw to go to dinner and a movie. Nice little Saturday night!
Dinner
Bryan made the mistake of suggesting to me Mexican which is a vice of mine. He thought we could try the one in our shopping center; however, it is not yet open! So we headed down to Kennesaw and went to chain Mexican restaurant (tex mex really): On the Border. My dinner consisted of:
- Cheese Dip and Tortilla chips
- Steak Fajita Quesedilla
- Water
I debated a Sangrai Margarita but I don't like to drink if Bryan isn't and since it was the night before a shift, he wasn't drinking. I just feel like it's not as fun to drink alone and also it almost rubs it in his face. And Margarita's have hella calories in them so it was really for the best.
We left On the Border to head to the movies and ended up seeing The Worlds End which was hysterical. I'm not much into British humor but the movie was damn funny and not just because it involved a pub crawl (5 guys, 12 bars, 60 beers and a sprinkling of shots). It also looked at aging, gettin your shit together and robots. So really, there wasn't much not to like. Of course at the movie, for the first time in FOREVER, I felt like I had to have a snack. So for dessert I opted for straight sugar in the form of sour patch kids.
Clearly, I have some making up to do but yesterday was such a wonderful day that I cannot even feel bad about it!

Let's Talk About Nipples
But before we do, I'm down to 189.4 y'all! Yeah the south has gotten to me. Look I don't actually say it but ever since B. Spears started saying it and journalists made fun of her in print for it I cannot seem to stop writing it when it comes to something I'm excited about.
Onto nipples.
Dear Lady Runners... how in the hell do you run while PMSing or on your period. I mean holy shit, I tried this morning to go for a run. I'm calling it a success because actual running did occur... for one small lap around my small neighborhood (I really should measure it out). But by the end of the first lap, I thought perhaps a walk run is in order.
The kind of walk run where I never run again because the memory of nipple pain made me want to curl into fetal position.
Seriously, it felt like a little man was inside me with some kind of string or pulley system attached to my nipples. Every step felt like he was trying to yank my nipples through my boobs and into my body. Sometimes both at the same time, sometimes one and then the other. All times, extremely painful.
Am I the only one this happens to? Or are you lady runners taking a break for up to two weeks while your body fucks your world up?

I love Steak
Last night, Bryan grilled out for us and boy was it epic! One of the most exciting things about having this house is having a back deck and a boyfriend who will grill out for us. He used some low sodium dales to marinate and I made some potato casserole (I'm not an epic cook so yes it came from a box). I was a little wary of the casserole but it turned out delicious and went so well with the steak!
Bryan chose some large steaks so I ended up with leftovers which I used tonight on a delicious salad. Below is a picture.
To make it I used:
1. Beefsteak Tomato
2. Cucumber
3. Leftover T Bone steak
4. Mozzarella Cheese
5. Spinach
6. Sun dried tomato dressing (myabsolutefav!)
It was delicious. I am heading out for a walk right now. I just have not had the energy to find the gym around here but Bryan and I both have off on Saturday so I think I will suggest we go together so I know how to get there. And then maybe a day on the lake :)

False Start
Well last week didn't go as planned. Tuesday, life totally kicked me in the ass. And the week derailed from there. Some notes from last week:
1. I see your Crossfit and I raise you MOVING. Holy shit, I didn't work out all week and I feel like I lifted mass amounts of weights. Used muscles that had been dormant for years. I have a feeling even unpacking will be miserable.
2. Wrapping your dishes in newspaper seems like a legit plan until you go to unpack them. You have to run them through the dishwasher before you can even use them. No paper our plastic? Time to eat out.
3. Our location is going to be an exercise in discipline. I live behind Publix. In that shopping center we have Sonic, Waffle House, Zaxby's (how can something so delicious be so bad for you!), a mexican restaurant, a chinese restaurant and a Domino's. SERIOUSLY?!?!
4. My neighborhood has sidewalks. I went on a lovely walk this morning. Needs to be better lit though. Half the street lights are out!
So the title of this post is False Start. Like in a race when someone jumps the gun and you have to go back to the line and start again. That is what I am calling last week.
Weigh in: 190.4 lbs.

The Starting Line
Today marks the start of my latest attempt to get fit and lose weight. Normally, I'd just say get fit but when I weighed in this morning at 193.8 lbs, I knew I really meant LOSE weight. Furthermore, after an awesome trip to Pensacola with my boyfriend in which I was confronted with 700 pictures of the most disgusting gut and/or ass I've ever seen and realized they were of me when I was parasailing with my boyfriend, I knew something had to change.
The thing is my boyfriend thinks I'm hot. But he thought I was hot when I was 30 lbs lighter at the start of this thing, so I think at the minimum I can lose 30 lbs and still have a boyfriend who thinks I'm hot. That makes it a bit harder for me since I don't have the motivation of a boyfriend no longer being attracted to me.
I started out by buying a new pair of kicks this past weekend at Big Peach. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes which really pleased me. I knew what kind of shoes they had previously fitted me for and I guess I had an air of knowing what I wanted because the sales girl didn't even attempt to bring me alternates. Instead, she brought me the latest version of my shoes which I tried on and ran around the store in and then brought me a variety of colors to choose from. And by variety, I mean white and white and watermelon. I picked the watermelon obviously.

I would like to lose 3-4 lbs a month. By January, I would like to weigh 16 lbs less than I do right now which puts me at a weight of 177. I am going to work out 6 days a week and starting next week, will plan out my meals. This week is tough because it is my first back from vacation, we're closing on a house, we're slammed at work and I'm moving. Next week, we should be settled into the new place so I'll feel like I'm at a better place to cook and plan meals. I figure this week, I can focus on the workout part!
Today's News and Notes:
- I weighed in at 193.8 lbs when I woke up this morning. I will do a weekly weigh in and post it here.
- For cardio today, I ran for 10 minutes on the treadmill at a pace of 5.0 mph. I then walked for 20 minutes at an incline of 10-13 and a pace of 3.0-3.3 mph for a total of 30 minutes of cardio.
- I worked out with my trainer.
- Prowler Push 130 lbs down and back on the astroturf in the gym.
- Walking Lunges with kettlebell overhead. Stop at each dash on the astroturf and do 2 squats. Down and back.
- Bear Crawls. Stop at each dask and do 2 jump squats down. Jog back.
- Walking Kettlebell Figure 8s
- Prowler Run with 2 jumping jacks at each dash. 70 lbs. Down and Back.
- Meals for the day:
- Breakfast: Protein Bar and cup of coffee
- Lunch: Jimmy John's Club Lulu with Salt and Vinegar Chips and Lemonade
- Snack: Cup of coffee
- Dinner: Panera U Pick 2 with 1/2 of an Avocado Turkey BLT and 1/2 of a BBQ chicken salad. Baguette on the side with water
